November 8th, 2008 Houston Motorsports Park
JWMS arrived at the race track with a ton of unanswered questions. Jake had 2 horrific crashes at the October 18th show begging the question, How is the car going to handle? Going into
the season finale there was a lot on the line. Innovative Designs did their best to repair an otherwise unrepairable chassis. The teams main focus was to just take the green flag in the
feature race, thereby securing the Rookie of the Year and 3rd place points in the championship. Coming off the first qualifying round the car actually performed quite well and turned better
than we could have hoped. Jake posted the fifth fastest time on the charts. After consulting with Jake the crew decided to make just a couple of minor adjustments. He went back out for
the 2nd round of qualifying and posted the 4th fastest time. Jake was able to put the car anywhere on the track it needed to go without compromising speed or handling capability. At 6pm
the heat race started with Jake in the 4th position. He tucked into the 3rd hole nicely behind the #50 car of Travis Benson. Benson was able to pass Walterbach in the #47 and take the 2nd
spot. Jake settled in behind the #47. The top four cars of Benson, Spreen, Walterbach and Jake were able to catch the draft and leave the rest of the field behind. Jake, knowing that he had
to start the feature in order to accomplish his goals, played it a bit conservative and stayed in the fourth hole to finish the heat race. Prior to the start of the feature race, Jake spoke to his
crew chief and said "let's finish the game!" With that in mind he started the feature race in the 4th position. The green flag dropped and they were off! The #5 car of Dylan Hyche dove down
behind the #47 leaving Jake to the high side of the track. Coming off of turn 4 on the outside Jake motored past the #5 and pulled up behind the #47. Running order is Spreen #88, Benson
#50, Walterbach #47 and Jake in the #96 car. The top four again pulled away from the rest and Benson snuck under Spreen. Walterbach and Jake tucked in behind Benson and freight
trained the #88 car of Spreen. Jake is now sitting in the third position and looking for a way to the top. Jake took the opportunity to make a move like a pro and coming off of turn 2 he got a
run and passed the #47 down the back stretch. Now it was Benson's turn to get picked off. Jake caught Benson with two laps to go and just about had the spot when Benson cut him off
down the back stretch. Jake stayed on the gas and again went high coming off of turn 4 to take the checkered flag running side by side crossing the line with no more than a half a car
length difference with Benson taking the win. Jake ends his inaugaral season in the Bandos by placing 3rd in the Houston Motorsports Park Championship and Rookie of the Year. The
entire team of Jake Wright Motorsports would like to thank their sponsors, Innovative Designs and Do All Construction for their support during the year. Our success depends on YOU!
